The City of Blackshear's Better Hometown Program is a self-help community development program for small cities with population between 1,000 to 5,000, designed to improve the community's quality of life through sound planning and implementation by community stakeholders.
Pierce County is BEAR Country and a great place to call home. Over 17,000 county residents and over 3,900 city residents live in Pierce County. We pursue excellence here! Better Hometown Blackshear Inc. Mission
The organization is established to further the general welfare and prosperity of the citizens, businesses, industries, cultural and educational programs of and around the Blackshear, Georgia area. Essential to this mission is to apply a nationally recognized 4-point Approach trademarked by the National Main Street Center for improving designated Main Street communities. This approach includes business development, design, organization, and promotion. Additionally, the organization will provide a membership outlet to carry out its mission and activities.
Activities of the organization include the following:
*Assisting local Non-Profits: The organization will work through its membership to identify areas where the business community and local community can assist non-profit projects that will improve the overall value and quality of the area, specifically those related to the arts, recreation, education and historic preservation.
